One thing I never understood about straight-edge kids is why they were more pissed off than the average “hardcore kid”. Now, the art, done by Duane Hussien of A Jealousy Issue is well done, and it reflects the attitude, and probably deeper meaning of the record. Why start off about the art you ask? It seemed very out of place for an “edge” record.
On to the record itself, that’s what reviews are for right? XbishopX does not bring anything that new, but it is an edge pride band, and a scene pride band, and a **** you if you are a fake in any way kind of band. I get it.
While not forging any new musical ground, the members themselves are more colorful in their other projects, with some members of Remembering Never, and X Reign Of Terror X. While those are just side notes, my only real complaints are the really short songs that don’t really need to be there, like “Go **** Your Self”. C’mon now guys, you can put more full songs if you are going to do that, and to my surprise the songs from the demo I got off the inter-nerd (Another Prize Fighter, Filler and another song I can’t find the name for) weren’t there. That would have made my day.
This is well-done straightforward XedgeX hardcore with enough breakdowns, and times for pile-ons, sing-alongs, and all the fun things about hardcore before metal was really a big part of it. Decent stuff, great for edge kids.
