Look out, its another band that has an ex-member of a band people love, and this is gonna suck and/or be a rip-off of the earlier band. I say thee nay, thou should be inclined with a meeting of a sexual nature with rope, you nave.
No, this is a really fun, dance-fueled release that gets my blood going for the best of reasons. MWC is not your mom and dad’s KC and The Sunshine Band rehash. While it is obvious that the 70’s and early 80’s dance music may be apparent, the sheer style of this record bleeds uber-cool all over the place. Vocally, it is progressive, and flows with every last note of the CD. Musically, while a little all over the place in more of an homage to the late 70’s and early 80’s dance music, it is still the most fun on CD I have heard in a long time.
If you took some KC, Squeeze, 80’s new wave, and other things real music journalists use as references to seem smart, they STILL would not be able to really get the fun out of this record that is more than there. If you want something fun, energetic, and just plain different from the schlock that seems to permeate music these days, check this out. I was more than glad I did. From the opener “Dance In My Blood”, the electro drumming of “Monkey Monkee Men”, to the smooth closer “Vowels”, this record will only disappoint you if you cant get over yourself to have a bit of fun.
