Canada is a cold place, and while I haven’t traversed its tundra, Rosesdead seem to melt the very ice surrounding that frigid hellscape that is outr neighbor to the north.
Rosesdead sound much less like Taken on their first full length, and more like that of a melodic and slightly subdued Harvest. While the style they play, melodic metalcore, may have hints of Taken, With All Sincerity, and This Day Forward, Rosesdead make music that is on the same wavelength, but not directly aping the above influences I hear. The driving forces on this record are powerful vocals, great drumming and exceptionally well done and clean guitar work.
While I personally hoped for a few demo/EP tracks to be put on this release, (see a trend here with me and wanting old songs done yet????) I was more than pleased. The way the time signatures change is very smooth, it is done with such execution, you may think that some songs may be actually part in one and part in another. While that may put some people off, it shouldn’t. The lyrical content is positive and more or less about making yourself better, I guess. (PLAY YOUR PART) I enjoyed this release, and while it is not the best melodic metalcore release I own, I say this is in the top ten. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out, I am sure you will not be disappointed…for real reals…
