The Dillinger Escape Plan - Plagiarism EP (I-TUNES EXCLUSIVE) www.i-tunes.com
DEP is known for fire breathing, breaking things, line-up changes, making complicated music, relentless touring, taking time for a new record, causing message board drama, and now picking on Avenged Sevenfold!
What does that say about this I-Tunes EP? Absolutely nothing at all.
So lets talk about this record shall we? Other than a revamped version of Unretrofied, and live version of The Perfect Design, there is just a few covers, done in the same strange way that only DEP can do. The first cover is of "Wish" by NIN which feels like they held back, but its decent nonetheless. The cover of Angel (Massive Attack) is simply wonderful. DEP's cover of Soundgardens "Jesus Christ Pose" is just below the original, and while Gregs vocals are so drastically different from Chris Cornell, he does it justice.
My personal favorite song of the entire EP is the cover of Justin Timberlakes Like I Love You. It starts with the normal DEP chaos, but once the actual song starts from the acoustic riffing, this song is nothing but gold the rest of the way through.
This is a decent record, and just as unexpected as everything else this genre redefining band has done.
