It Dies Today - Sirens

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY MOST ARTIST TODAY HAVE ONE GOOD ALBUM THEN BLOW ALL THE REST?!

Seriously, picking up this album was the worst idea in my life.

It Dies Today is usually a more metalcore band with great guitar riffs and good melodies. Once I pressed the play button in Best Buy to listen to this album, I suddenly felt a sense of disappointment come over me. I automatically shut it off and put it back on the shelf in a melancholy manner. Now, I am not one to bitch a lot, but it just really angers me that you can come from such great heights, to falling so low.

When releasing "Let the Angels Whisper Your Name", It Dies Today was still a Buffalo based band with a small fan count. Only 16 years old with no label nor touring vehicle, they played local venues and sold their EP's in their hometown. Shortly after signing to Life Sentence Records, they released another EP entitled "Forever Scorned". With a lot less melody then they currently play, they hopped in a conversion van and toured the US. Sharing the stage with such bands as Between The Buried And Me and Alexisonfire, they rocked over audiences and showed true stage presence. Signed to Trustkill Records about a year later, they geared up and hit the studios yet again.

In the fall of 2004, It Dies Today released "The Caitiff Choir". They sold nearly 25,000 copies in less than four months and begin to tour again. Hitting line-ups with big time bands such as Antarrabae and Bleeding Through, they were given the title "band to know" by Alternative Press in 05. Now, we come to the conclusion after so much success from It Dies Today, they'd give us something to talk about. Instead, they gave me a reason to yell because we wasted $20 bucks on a sloppy mess. I feel as if this album was just put together to please the record company and truly, no heart was put into it. Some of the lyrics are catchy and have good thoughts, but all together the album seems more or less a bummer. I wasn't so much angry as I was disappointed.

The video for the song "Sacred Heart" I felt it really depicted nothing in my mind. It was just a waste of film and time. I didn't mind the song "A Constant Reminder", but I mean that in the tense; it's the only track I could stand. Other tracks on the album such as "Reignite the Fires" and "Sirens" have catchy lyrics, but I just don't find the songs in general amusing. I think It Dies Today needs to retain their sound and for the next album, put out something with more of a musical vibe then a lyrical euphoria.

I say don't buy it, but everyone has their own opinions and feelings. I thought it was a simple waste of money, but again, my opinion. As for It Dies Today, when they play live they're great. As for this album, it just doesn't feel the same while Nicholas is screaming. There is something in his voice that just don't click with the sounds in my head. Maybe they need to just take a year off and write until they get the right things. I'm sick of seeing bands so bad all because they have a deadline. It's not about the deadline, it's about the heart you put into the album. This album to me is semi-heartless and not thoroughly thought through. Good try It Dies Today, but I myself am disappointed and think you could've done a bit better.
