Trail of Dead- So Divided

Trail of Dead- So Divided
Are they going by just 'Trail of Dead' now? That's what the cd says. I think we have a 'Diddy' situation on our hands. Anyway, I was putting off listening to this album because I had it on good authority that it's a total turd nugget.

If you're not familiar with Trail of Dead, here are the highlights- anthemic, orchestral, introspective, self-indulgent. Source Codes and Tags = good. World Apart = bad.

Following the harsh critical reviews and slow sales of 2005's World Apart, Trail of Dead of come back swinging...with some of the same junk that made people not like their last album. Granted, I think artists should make music for themselves, not others. They're the ones that have to live with it whether it succeeds or fails..but So Divided is just rude. It's so NOT for the listener it's somewhat offensive and forces me to wonder 'why bother putting it out?'

There are a couple of standout tracks on the album. I don't think anyone would argue that 'Stand in Silence' is a good song, and there is something about 'Wasted State of Mind' that lent itself several listens, but that's only 2 of 11 total tracks. They do a Guided by Voices cover that is....

you know what? I don't even feel like talking about this album anymore. It's not very good and after I hit 'submit post' it will be erased from my memory. I hope they enjoyed writing and performing these songs, cause like I said, they have to live with it. Thankfully, they're the only ones. It gets a 2...for 2 good songs.
