JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE – FUTURESEX/LOVESOUNDS

Justin is not bringing sexy back, saying that is wack because you cannot bring sexy back if you are with someone!! This album is being released in a week or so therefore I must have my say on it.

Never was a big fan of Justin’s music, whether he was in a group or not. The only track I did like from his first solo effort was “Cry Me A River”. My ears just cannot handle the sound his voice makes when he is in his falsetto mode. It sounds as if someone is squeezing his “boys” very tightly and will not let go. He got lucky on this album it is tolerable, there are more old school inspired tracks (Think Prince and a new school splash of Usher) but on a few of the tracks the melody and the composures sound very familiar. A great example is the title track’s beat; it is one and the same to Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust”. Speaking of the title track it is cleverly constructed with his sexual innuendos but it is not as sexual or explicit as the media is making it out to be. The music fits the melody well, in a whole the track is chill and not over done his vocals are not too extra in this one. This is as raunchy as he gets; “Cause all I need is a moment / To give you my tongue and put you outta control / after let it in, skin to skin / It’s just so natural”. When “SexyBack” started rotation it really did not float my boat but now it has grown on me and I actually like it. A good club tune created by the beat master Timbaland who can make anybodies album fly. Look at the magic he did on Nelly Furtado's latest LP her previous was a super flop! The core hits of this album lay within tracks four to seven consisting of “My Love” it has an amazing beat I love it, the lyrics are mediocre but pleasing, the ladies I’m sure will love this track nonetheless. T.I features in this track, his sixteen is pretty cocky but then again this whole album is a little too cocky we do not need another “Usher Ego”, Mr. Timberlake. Next up are “LoveStoned” and “Chop Me Up” these two tracks are great club banggers and they both have similar themes where he is obsessed with a woman. “She looks like a model but has a little more ass”, “She’s freaky and she knows it, she’s freaky but I like it.” The best part of “LoveStoned” is at the end of the interlude where he hums, it sounds great. “Chop Me Up” is a continuation of “LoveStoned” with different words, yet again he’s obsessed with some chick and he’s begging her not to chop him up, in English it means to not be rejected.


One track that I am in love with because of the melody, the vocal arrangement and the connection it all has with the music is “What Goes Around Comes Around” the intro consists of a ten second chord from a Bouzouki (The Greek guitar) the rest of the instruments kick in and thirty seconds later the vocals come in. Although this track has some similarities to “Cry Me a River” and apparently it is rumored to have been written about Britney. But according to Justin "No! the song was not written for Britney but for a friend of mine." Ya whatever dude who cares anyway, enough of the Britney harassments I feel sorry for her she can’t even raise her children in peace. Justin should thank her because if not for them ending their relationship prior to JTizzle dropping his first LP it would not have done nearly as well because there would be no hype. In “Sexy Ladies” he is just a bit too much “You’re talking to one of the greatest” Umm no Justin I do not think so, no you are not one of the greatest especially when you can’t seem to do anything original! The tune “Damn Girl” to me, this one is called the Beyoncé song. When I first heard it I could not stop laughing, he is way up there in falsetto mode and it kills me especially when he does his runs it sounds like Beyoncé’s “Work It Out” this track features the Black Eyed Peas’ WILL I. AM. Timberlake tries to pull off the Prince flair but it is obviously not working Timberlake. He cannot pull it off like Prince the dynamics are not there. Justin’s voice is way too feminine, he is a tenor, there is no contrast in his vocals as opposed to Princes’ falsetto yet he still has the deep bass voice. A heads up for “Until The End Of Time” it is very Usher like and well it is a complete snoozer! This track is recommended for naptime, or if you would like a super long song for a more intimate setting but I don’t know any man who would pop in a JTizzle to set the mood.


For someone who was aiming to make an album full of “FutureSex/LoveSounds” the album came out to be more hype than content, a lot of repetition with lyrics yet on the flipside different and catchy melodic Pop Hop. Also the singing is good a bit airy in the falsettos at times but overall good vocal performance a variety of range and props for hitting notes I hit, he just needs to sing like a man more often. One thing it could do without is the interludes (Except the “LoveStoned” track). Who needs all those they just confuse your ears. I give this album a three out of five, it did not make it to the level of the greatest crooners nor was it captivating, so too bad JTizzle this album just fizzles.
