JASON REEVES' MAGNIFICENT ADVENTURES JASON REEVES - THE MAGNIFICENT ADVENTURES OF HEARTACHE And other frightening tales…. By FridaeMattas The wait for the new Jason Reeves album to drop, is finally over! The new LP landed August 30 with a special performance by Jason at Hotel Café in Hollywood and another release party in New York on Wednesday September 26. This album is truly unique; purely music at its optimum. Not often, do I come across an album with such great artwork both musically and visually, tornados and tress, hearts, castles, and clouds; Jason encompasses the talent of every art form imaginable. The album comes with a separate leaflet of lyrics where the last tune is appropriately titled ‘The End’. Pay attention to the lyrics in the tracks fellas; you may learn something from this gifted young heart with such an unbelievably advanced mind and soul. Jason Reeves has been a very ambitious entity these past two years, he co-wrote the album of Malibu’s sweetheart Colbie Caillat, found time to write and record a duet album together with Caillat, in the wilderness of California. It certainly does not end there; Jason also wrote and recorded this album ‘The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache and Other Frightening Tales’. Oh and let us not forget performing at the hottest spots in NYC and LA also making a special appearance with Colbie on The Carson Daly show. Jason has come a long way from his Grammy winning High School in Iowa, his star is constantly rising. He has a new manager Ken Kronguard, a former A&R executive who discovered and signed Avril Lavigne, without a doubt Jason is in safe hands. The competition is high, who will have the honor of embracing one of the worlds most exceptional artists on their roster? Only the future will tell who is worthy of The Jason, many major labels, Indies and every major publisher have come a knocking, only to fail in acquiring the best kept secret of Majorlabelscout.com. The brand new A&R scouting network started by Ken Kronguard, it was one of his scouts who heard Jason’s astounding music, submitted his tunes and the minute Kronguard heard the tracks he was obsessed, an instant fan, he played Jason’s music to anyone who would listen. This album is for everyone who believes in love, who has been in love, has been broken hearted, left empty in pieces. For those who believe in dreams and wishes, there is something for everyone. This truly is Jason’s best work yet; he is always growing, getting better with age like a fine wine, not afraid to express who he is, he contains his individuality admirably and is conscious of the world around him. Jason is one person who will not conform to the standards Hollywood pushes, they have not corrupted him yet, and I hope they never do. “Just a simple boy that believes in love and dreams” is who Jason says he is and his music speaks it clearly. As Jason grows, his talents are expanding prolifically reverberating early James Taylor possibly to surpass Taylor due to Jason’s voice; he has this inimitable serenity about his voice that is unheard of. Foreseeing the future many replications will try to arise, imitation may be a form of flattery but if you are an artist form your own style, stand out if you crave to be in the spotlight. If not and you think emulating Christina Aguilera or Nickelback will get you a record deal, you might as well stay doing the same old karaoke, your style is nothing original. No replications, the tunes on this album may share similar topics but the outcome of this album is entirely different in milieu from its predecessors. We start at the beginning with ‘Someone Somewhere’ fate works in many ways; it is remarkable at how people are brought together, how people meet, by chance. This song encompasses a nice calm intro of a simple acoustic guitar, getting into the verse Jason’s voice flowingly blended in with the songs melody fittingly together like a bird flying freely into the distance. The opening line in this track “Someone is waiting. Someone who understands exactly how you feel.” Some of the chorus “Maybe that someone is me. Maybe it’s meant to be lovers, strangers, sometimes bombs fall quietly.” Jason believes in what he sings, it comes across clear as day in the vocals. He has such heart and soul, born to be a musician made to share his incredible gift with the world. From album to album Jason has found his own, separating away from the John Mayor sound moving into Jason himself, he owns his talent which is rare especially at such a young age but then again not every artist is Jason Reeves, he is truly one of a kind. Jason is only 22 with more than four albums under his belt, this is just the beginning for the world is still half-asleep in finding out about this gem. As a girl I would love a dude to croon me with these tunes, I would rather a man pop in a Jason Reeves album than a Justin Timberlake album. Bonus points to those who buy Jason’s album, worth your dollars to listen to a prophetic musical poet. Those with a Timberlake will get a laughing goodbye his tunes are only good at clubs. Trying to pick out my favorite tracks to jibber about, so hard to choose only a few because all of them are remarkably their own sonatas, hard to leave out a chapter in the book. Fifteen incredible tracks, there is also a bonus number sixteen-titled ‘Hearts Are Magnets' Jason and his accoustic. At the beginning of the verse, Jason sounds a little flat but that turns around as he gets into the chorus, it is all smooth sailing from there. A tune these ears cannot get enough of, is called ‘You In A Song’ the acoustic guitar mixed with the tambourine, it gives the track life, this nice happy vibe. The arrangments are perfect and the chemistry of all the musicians with Jason is undeniable. If this tune was to be remixed with another beat, adding a sixteen from an amazing rapper, then we would have ourselves a club banger. Radio friendly already, ‘You In A Song’ definitely should be dropped to radio as the next single. Every intro to every track has a different feel. The intro that tickles these ears with giggles is ‘Pretty Eyes’ very soft and enchanting with the right pace, tone, and instruments. In this track, Jason sings, “We took the highway that curves along the ocean on a Friday. The sun was falling down and you were shining, the rhythm of the waves was keepin’ time as you were singing this.” The Chorus “Maybe I would disappear without you, maybe I would fall into the sky. But I’m in heaven orbiting around you, and your pretty eyes.” The tone of his voice in ‘Pretty Eyes’ is so full and supple yet so expressive, it has no airy pass. Perfect track to put into a film, able to envision the scene of a film when the lovers are torn apart and there is flashback of all the happy times together and when the track wraps they bump into each other on the street or something. Sorry I get carried away but you will know what I am saying once you go and buy this album! Shall I continue? No, I will not, you yourself can listen to Jason’s tunes to completely understand what I am talking about but before that, there is one last track that needs to be mentioned. ‘Entwined’ this song will be the choice of many couples, fellas a little hint for a Valentines Day song, especially if your Lady has a romantic mind set and likes chick flicks. This is the perfect tune. Here is a line from the track “Entwined, all that we are is defined by each others shipwrecked hearts.” just listen to song, if only to admire the beauty of the talent. Jason worked with such gifted people to help him create this serene magnificence. A standing ovation to The Jason, go buy it, stop missing out.
