The Law – Single “Still Got Friday To Go”
Relentless Records / Virgin - EMI Records
By: Fridae Mattas
This three track single cd by The Law, a band of four dudes from Dundee, Scotland. Stuart Purvey - Vocals, Stevie Anderson – Guitar, Simon Donald – Bass, and Martin Donald on Drums. The title tune is poppy catchy but does seem to drag on too long and then they have an extended version, which is track three. Losing interest after the first few plays already sick of the track, listening to the extended version, it still is typical Brit pop. Purvey needs to work on his diction, enunciate those words they were hard to make out. The song is all right, perfect for a cell phone commercial. Second track ‘Don’t Stop’ is much better; there is more of an old school rock vibe, a mesh of Billy Idol, The Beetles, U2, George Michael, and a dash of the Doors. ‘Don’t Stop’ I like, I do, a memorable track, the vocals sound good, 70's retro most definitely, it has this familiarity to the melody. Great sound with the collaboration of instruments. However, would I buy their album? Undecided, there could be a few chill tracks on the album or the rest of the tracks could sound like the first single. Preview this album before you buy it, a great suggestion.
