OUT NOW!
Now I am a huge Oasis fan so when this little gem popped up in the mail I decided I wanted to take this home to review it. I had heard that this DVD was being released and was excited as hopefully it would contain tasters for the new album within it, which based on the single (which is the title of this DVD) "Lord don't slow me Down" it's set to be amazing. Their latest single sounds like 60's music being done in a modern way with new production but old tones being used. I really love the direction that the band appear to be going in.
The DVD is all Black and White and has been put together to show Oasis as a 60s band. The editing and general viewing footage has also been done in a certain way to make this DVD feel like a video release from the 60s. The overall DVD has a great vibe and is a behind the scenes documentary of Oasis on an entire worldwide tour. Most of this DVD is excellent and fast paced enough to keep everyone interested. The DVD does become a little boring when the band were in Australia which is not Oasis' fault.
As the DVD goes through I begin realizing I have seen a lot of this footage before as it has all been slowly but surely leaked out in various mediums to help promote this DVD way before anyone really knew of it's existence. The video for Lord Don't Slow me Down is partially shown in this DVD and was filmed in San Fransisco. Even the video for Let There Be Love is in this, which shows you how far back this DVD has been planned.
I also like the fact that there are a few glimpses of Zack Starkey in here so we can all finally see what he looks like and his drumming abilities are fully showcased on this DVD -awesome! In the past they have hidden him a bit so it was good to see what this guy is bringing to the Oasis table and it seems to be a full thanksgiving dinner!!
The only footage I see of the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff is where Charlotte Church is making a right drunken fool of herself by asking Noel to say hi to her friend more than once! Shame that's all that's on there but funny that for the second time this DVD the Oasis boys are ripping the **** out of Charlotte Church. To see the first one you will need to buy this DVD but let's just say that it involves the question "Sex, Marry or Kill"
.
The disc I received was the Special Edition version too which contains a full live set of Oasis. I have yet to see this but from the live footage shown in the main DVD I am sure it is well worth investing in that Special Edition version as it allows you to watch an Oasis concert in your house. Hooray!
Overall this is a very entertaining, fun, humorous and enciteful DVD that really does show the behind the scenes footage of Oasis on a worldwide tour. From interviews with the press to dressing room antics -it's all here. Must see for all Oasis fans and non fans because I'm sure that after you watch this DVD you will have a new found love for the band again.
Roll on 2008 and the new album. It's gonna be a blinder.
