The Maine - The Way We Talk

If you are in search of a new band doing something ambitious you should just stop reading this review right now. But if you are looking to supplement the pop-rock section of your CD collection, The Way We Talk would be a solid addition. The new EP, and Fearless Records debut, from Arizona's much hyped The Maine has already been a huge seller at outlets like Smart Punk and and Interpunk. Make no mistake, for a band that only formed in January 2007, this band have caused quite the stir in the American rock community.

From the sugary vocals that open "If I Only Had The Heart," The Maine's mission statement is clear. This young band wants nothing more than to have you sing-along and with melodies this pretty, its hard not to! Nothing groundbreaking here but it is tough to argue the effectiveness of "Give Me Anything" and its infectious attack. It would be interesting to see if the band branch out a bit on their upcoming full length. If you are a fan of Cartel, Cute Is What We Aim For and Sherwood, The Way We Talk might just be your favorite new record.

Sweet review. However, i think The Maine might be more abitious than the album leads you to believe. Hopefully we'll see something new from these boys soon.
