The intro of the album opener makes it appear that the vocalist is going to be male. With a guitar riff for the opening bar and drum count in to start off the whole music. Then hearing a female voice surprised me thinking this could be an interesting album. Gang vocals and harmonies throughout the album sound like the band is all female but then to find out five members, four male and Rachel as lead, makes it appear to be a different band as, in my opinion, you can’t hear any male vocals during gang vocals and harmonies.
Rachel doesn’t change her singing abilities throughout the album and gets a bit boring after a few songs. Throughout the album, the songs have a similar structure. After awhile you’re more likely to turn the album off because once you’ve heard one song, you’ve heard them all.
They have put a lot of effort into the intros to make the song appear to be amazing but once the intro has finished the quality of the song goes downhill. They have the ability to write good songs, the proof is within the first bar or two of the songs. Maybe what let’s them down is the lyrics and the structure of the rest of the song. The fact they do this for every song on the album causes the rating of the album to go down.
In a couple of their songs, ‘The Way It Goes’ and ‘I Did It’, questions are being asked but all based round, ‘What can I do?’ and ‘What’s in it for me?’. These questions/lyrics could have been put in to make it sound like it’s coming from their stories and the reasons to writing the songs.
Like I’ve said above, the songs are roughly the same with the structure and vocal ability, giving this a poor outcome. I can’t say the same or anything as a matter of fact for seeing them live because I haven’t. I just hope they are good live to keep the fans they have hanging around them to support them.
