InnerPartySystem - The Download EP Not knowing anything about this Philly four piece at all, I knew as soon as I pressed play I was in for a surprise whatever music played out of the speakers. Judging a book by its cover (or CD by its case) i assumed that IPS were a very synthy based atmospheric band. As soon as EP opener "Don't Stop" began I thought, brilliant, I was right, but then as soon as the intro was fading away I was corrected in a harsh and dirty way. This is a band that know all about grimy beastly beats and are not afraid to use them. With a style that doesn't sway to far from the shadows of bands like The Faint, Brandtson and Altsounds favorites Baumer its clear who IPS are influenced by. That though, is not a bad thing. They have taken the sound and style of these bands and boosted it in a bigger way and made it very much their own. Throwing in some vocoder and granular synthesis for added flair and panache, this is a band that is not afraid to experiment and without a single doubt will be able to fill any venue or dancefloor with some hot sweaty grooving bodies.
