Taken from Frank Turners’ second album, the former Million Dead front mans new single will leave fans of his past band wondering where there punk rock singer has gone. Although previous solo work has hinted at musical experimentation, none of the material has revealed this side of Turner. Photosynthesis is a real grower and will have you singing the chorus out loud for a fair few days after listening to it… “I won’t sit down and I won’t shut up and most of all I won’t grow up!” Turners’ recent creative endeavour sees him taking on the role of folk troubadour. The influences are clearly evident from Billy Bragg to every musician down your local geeing on an Irish jig, not that, that is a bad thing by any means. The lyrics deal with the theme of losing touch with our youth, as we get older and not wanting to deal with adult life’s responsibilities. Overall this is a nice little upbeat folk-rock track. For those who are trying to recall biology classes and what the hell photosynthesis means, in a nutshell it is the process by which plants convert light energy to chemical energy!
