Greeley Estates - Go West Young Man, Let The Evil Go East Judging by an intensive touring schedule and some amazing record sales without the backing of a label; Greeley Estates are a bit of a phenomenon. Having now signed with Science Records they’re releasing what’s already their third full length. Intensity is a key word and a word you’d imagine this band are well aware of, the passion and energy conveyed throughout this album is full-on intense. There’s little else which can be said about them, as far as first impressions go. ‘Go West Young Man, Let The Evil Go East’ is thirteen well crafted, huge, energetic hardcore songs. They blend the intense, scream and bass driven crescendos with some truly uplifting, melodic moments. In big parts they remind of From First To Last, they create a huge sound and portray the feeling of a band who pull it all of live with masses of energy. For all this energy, they are able to grasp dynamic, and some cracking beatdowns combine and blend into some of the softer moments, at times it’s completely atmospheric. Compared to their previous releases, this album demonstrates that Greeley Estates have well and truly arrived. They’ve developed into a band worthy of the status gained from all their touring exploits. For raw energy and passion, delivered with the utmost conviction this band have created about one of the best albums of the year so far. It won’t go down as an all time classic, but if you have something to let out then you could do worse than putting this album on loud and rocking out. This is definitely music to go nuts to, if the album and the rumours are anything to go by, a Greeley Estates live performance must be about one of the best out there. If you can’t get to see them live yet, do yourself a favour and pick up this album. |
