 What do you get when you combine the greatest parts of Saves The Day and Say Anything? It may sound like the start of a joke but its not. Far from it. Its an incredible reality. I read about this musical meeting of minds a few weeks ago and the thought alone gave me shivers. Ok... ok... I know that I am slightly biased when it comes to this, but with a love of both bands I could not help myself. Its like a dream combination. With the lyrical prowess of Max and the piercing vocal abilities of Chris layered over the powerful sounds of David and Coby its almost to good to be true. I have listened to this song around 20 times now trying to think of something to write that will do it justice and I cant. Its only 3:08 long and its harder to write about than an album. I am a fan of both bands and being able to hear them together like this is an experience I am so pleased I am able to relive at the click of a button. Starting off with a very simple guitar line that would not sound out of place on a Saves the Day album you think you know where this song is going. Then with just the smallest warning of a harsh intake of breath the sounds explode into an awesome crescendo that throws you so far of course that you cant believe what you just heard. As soon as you try and grasp some sort of understanding, it drops. Its gone. Its just you, a guitar and Max. Then its back! This happens until the mass of chorus hits you hard and doesn't let you go. With soaring, almost choral, vocals "Crawl" gives you some breathing space. Its almost as if they knew you would need it. To regain your thoughts maybe and try and understand what you have just experienced. Its not enough time. For one last go, the drums come pounding back in. The guitar and bass joins it. Its like the last of a dying man and he isn't go to go down easily. I personally can not wait for the album and if this first taster track on a myspace player is anything to go by I am going to struggle stringing sentences together, let alone be able to write a review. If you don't do anything else today you must listen to this band. I can only hope that it affects you in the same way it did me. Click: Two Tounges News Review by Gavin.
