Nude Records
With the floral pattern printed throughout the album gave me a judgement that this album will be acoustic, soft music. The saying goes… ‘Never judge a book by its cover.’
The opener for the track, ‘Prelude’ starts off with a soft rhythm just before the vocals from Konstantin Gropper kicks in, then at 1 minute 21 seconds more vocals hit in singing the same line over and over again which is ‘Rest now, weary head! You will get well soon.’ - The title of the album.
In ‘Christmas In Adventure Parks’ Gropper’s vocals sound drowsy and whiny and also doesn’t get his pitch right at times. I realised his vocals are like this throughout the album and it sadly puts me off it slightly. I could go on and on with how much I like the music; the violins, pianos, drums and rhythm guitars put together brilliantly in every song on this 14 track album. As each song finishes and a new one start I pray that his vocals will get better but unfortunately it doesn’t.
If you’re into music with drowsy, dying vocals then you will like this album. For me, it’ll just be put to the side. I’ll probably pick this up again in a few weeks time to give it another try but I highly doubt it’ll change my mind. I’m quite disappointed as I thought I would like this album after hearing his first track ‘Prelude’
