Ok, stop whatever you’re doing and get your hands on this single. This outstanding single from these Lorraine boys will be worth a listen…a few listens too.
In ‘When I Return To The World’ an Indian guitar rhythm starts off this song before everything else kicks in. 80’s power snare can be heard in this song with the mixture of programming, keyboard and awesome power riffs from the guitar. 2 minutes and 22 seconds a robotic tuning hits your speakers lasting only a few seconds, if it was any longer I think the song would be ruined. Gundersen’s vocals fit in perfectly with the tempo and rhythm giving the song an extra boost of greatness.
Moving onto the B side – ‘Beyond Sky’ is equally as good as the official single. Myran-Haland on keyboard proves he has talent by starting off this song, the cheery, bouncy notes and female soft vocals make this an excellent introduction to ‘Beyond Sky’. This is the calmer song out of the two on this CD and the return of the soft female vocals appears when everything builds up. Over all these two songs can easily blow your mind, if they don’t then something must be wrong with you.
You’re probably thinking that’s all a single CD has but these days they tend to have a remix or two included, this CD has 4 remixes of their single ‘When I Return To The World’ all at roughly 7 minutes each. The thumping of the bass and the synth keys strike out and grabs your attention straight away. Remixes are remixes and between all 4 of them there isn’t much difference. I’m not saying they’re bad, I think they are good remixes of the song but having 4 of them can be a bit too much.
I will definitely listen to this CD over and over again, maybe try and find out what their album is like and I have this feeling I won’t be disappointed.
