Hassle Records is based in the UK and have licensed many bands from the USA for CD releases over here. Having a good reputation in the music industry and knowing they have 5 acts from their roster on a CD makes you want to listen to this and be introduced to some new music. Me personally, I have heard of all the artists on the compilation in one way or another. For someone who hasn’t heard of any of the music or even the label themselves, it’s a great way to give you an idea of the type of people on this outstanding label.

This Hassle Records Sampler isn’t packed with bands, only 5. But 5 that will give you a good idea and an example of the bands that are out there today. I want to say all of them are amazing but unfortunately I can’t. Most labels out there will have at least one band someone will not like. For me, it’s Anti-Flag and from the song I’ve listened to on the CD, I don’t like Attack in Black either. Not the best start to the CD as they are the first two tracks.

Luckily, I like the last three tracks on the CD, Four Year Strong, Cancer Bats and City and Colour. Four Year Strong and City and Colour, I listen to them on a more or less daily basis so I am kind of biased there. For Cancer Bats however, I haven’t heard any of their music before so hearing ‘Pray for Darkness’ gives me a little idea of what these boys are offering.

Many labels only concentrate on signing or licensing a certain type of genre. The 5 bands on this CD give you a good wide range of genres, from hardcore to acoustic. Hassle has really out done themselves with producing this sample CD and will hopefully get attention from fans of the music world.
