Screamo.... I ****ing hate that word.... I really do. After a long and hard time trying to review this record, which I really like, I can only use the word screamo. On to better thing, this is the record I knew they could make. The time and signature changes are there ala Shai Hulud (in guitar... When I got this record, the kid who sold it to me told me Envy was "The reason Japan was invented"...bold and kind of silly, but this CD is...EPIC, and I mean EPIC. This first song is almost nine (9) minutes. It is post hardcore; it is also dark, chaotic and twisting. The songs mostly sung in...

If you like suicide, black, Goth poetry and take it seriously stays away from this record. Yes Bayside returns. I am happy actually, and I think you will be too. This is musically poppier than SIRENS AND CONDOLENCES, but lyrically a shade darker. The songs just seem to keep moving a faster pace...

Buffalo NY. Known for wings, The Bills, and being close to Canada. I think that ETID were planning a take over, town by town. (CONGRATS AT HITTING #71 on BILLBOARD) This is just a rawer record than Hot Damn. The only complaints I have are the vocals seem just a lil growly for my tastes (it... Ashes of Ixion ****ing rule...wait, that’s their old name.... ******* alert. TCS hail from Myrtle Beach SC, and have been rocking The Lazy Eye, the Limelight and The Social for years now...and these beach boys bring it all on this record. THE DRUMMER IS A MACHINE...and the guitars aren’t too... Do you like old school hardcore...I mean OLDSCHOOL HARDCORE. Before breakdowns and head walking. When shows were about pile-ons, fingers in the air, sing-alongs??? This is THAT kind of comp...and there are too many bands to list, or the fact I am also lazy...heheheheh...not too bad at all, stand...
Wow, 3 18yr olds wowing a jaded and bitter 25 yr old. Is it a new porn movie??? NAY, it is the FALL OF TROY. Behold, and inculcate with expedience the conditions we have been given to. It would behoove one to turn all-aural ability to said mind warping record...ok; I can't keep that up.......

CUAD is a band you either get or you don't. I mean these guys made a shirt (I still want) of a record review from a zine that was 1 and a half stars and the line "UNINSPIRING AT BEST".... that zine was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy wrong. The Vegas destructo crew has grown up, and it shows. Yes they still... The Bled, Arizona's best band ever??? Mayhaps, mayhaps, but this summers Warped tour seemed to gather a decent crowd in Pittsburgh, and the new songs, at first were taken too, but tentatively. I think the sophomore record for every band is a hard thing to get over, after a line-up change, and a...
Dude, they pulled another Cave In, they changed up the sound again, going for an almost stoner metal feel on this record, think older Cave In meets a lil ISIS, and enough poppiness in the vain of JUPITER to really get this one...it has the relaxed feel of Jupiter and the tones of Until you heart... If there was EVER a band that took hardcore in a new direction in the last few years, it is Iowa's MLIW. THIS IS NOT BRUTAL MOSHMETAL, THIS IS NOT STRAIGHTFORWARD HARDCORE, this is a new take on it...It is just driving hardcore you need to experience for yourself...The closest I can compare it too...

Some Girls...the San Diego power house of noise and no-frills hardcore releases its first new CD in ages...if you got ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING DEATH (or THE BLUES, or THE RAINS 7"s) then you know what you are in store for. For the uninitiated, SG is made up of (former and current, respectively)...
Did you like Haste, but wished they were more metal? Did you like Shai Hulud but felt they needed another vocalist? Or, did you think that a band with two vocalists was a bit too much? Well, you need to listen to this immediately...GO GET IT.... Anyways, the record (which features members of... Do you like The Mars Volta? How about Botch? How about mixing the two together??? Well if ya do, then ya get these guys, so deal with it. These nice young men from Toronto Canada made something really exciting, and it is just great. The record is just an EP recorded on a 16 Track...and it... What do ya get when ya cross members of Saosin, Circa Survive, Taken and This Day Forward? This lovely self-released avant garde cd...think The Mars Volta meets aggression in the vein of Sasosin/Taken, and you get the idea...this record swoons and shows off the talents of the band, playing with...
Forming from the ashes of Aria/Azazel, Seneca, Outrun the Storm, NC's newest darlings bring the mosh so hard on this 3-song ep. It is a nice mix of Bury Your Dead, Hatebreed, Throwdown, and Out To Win...its that ****ing tough, no joke...as far as songs go they are fairly long, each going over the...

Ramallah, Rob Lind's newest band is nothing short of pure hatred and disgust of our society. I have never heard more dangerous, threatening lyrics, since well...a long ****ing time...this may have the shock value that Ice-T's "BODY COUNT" song "COP KILLER" did in 91/92, so minus the fact that this... WOW, from SHARK ETHIC to TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO A PERMANENT PROBLEM, this perfect representation of honesty and conviction. Indecision and One King down were AMAZING bands, and with members from both, the newest offering of hardcore GOES FOR THE THROAT OF EVERYONE...MERCILESS IS JUST THAT, ****ING...
Ok, this is the OLD FOT...and it shows...they were 17 when they put this to CD...it shows...there is energy, but the songs don't sound polished... I kind of like that to be honest...now DOPPELGANER has the best songs from the record (Mouths like sidewinder missiles, FCP, Whacko Jacko, I Just Got... NC has been a hotbed of musical activity, and no one can figure out why, I say who cares...QUELL is like a more southern Dillenger, but the comparisons only work in the tech-metal sense of the band...now, I have seen them twice, once at MACRock, and once at pizza place in Wilmington NC with...
Canada...cold, bleak, harsh, like Cursed...now to be honest, this is not my thing, but I am quickly using it as studying music, not to say this is boring, but it tends to grab hold of something inside, something that has been dormant for a long time...grabs hold of that bleak place inside and...

Ok, I was very excited to hear With Honor signed to the BIG V. I was even more excited when I heard the CD all the way through...now lets get this out there to the masses, THIS CD IS SO GOOD...its fun and honest and sincere...it reminds me of a mix of Battery, Ignite, Reach The Sky and the older...
Ok, let me say this first, SOT IS ONE OF VICTORYS UNDERRATED BANDS...now that thats outta the way, SOT UNLEASH A ****ING MONSTER..."The Horror..." reminds me of a mix of DEFTONES/VOD/SOT...three bands I like...now the crunch is there, the breakdowns, the melancholic melodies, and a guest spot from... I have to admit that piano music normally upsets me, and not in an angry way, but in a touching I want to cry sorta way, so I don't normally listen to this type of stuff...On to the review...I have SLR's first cd, and its ok, not my thing, a bit to "deep" for me...now this new EP has something more...
Aiden makes the transition from no name local band to soon to be superstars really well...the production in and of itself make this record a winner, but the music and lyrics add to it...Think older AFI mixed with MCR and you get the sound idea, and vocally Wil shines. The biggest gripe I have...

Sevendust was brought to us via the late 90's wave of Nu-Metal that took the country by storm for a dismal few years. Yes, even I was carried away with it to a point. Over the past 25 years, Roadrunner Records have served you up some of the best metal music there ever was.....Carnivore, Obituary, Sepultura, Type O Negative, Life Of Agony, Machine Head, and many more....to great new bands like 3 Inches Of Blood, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, and Devildriver.

New Jersey's God Forbid have been pounding the proverbial heavy metal pavement for a long time now, and its all about to pay off with their new release, "Constitution Of Treason". Their last album, "Gone Forever" was a formidable disc with tons of promise and lots of bite. What impressed me even... Coming outta Staines with all the urgent blue collar stress that attends bands who really want to make it and be, like, the biggest band in the world, man, after a lifetime of getting by and doing without, Hard Fi are one of those bands - and ‘Stars of CCTV’ is one of those albums - that stands out...

It says a lot about an album that you can have heard half of it already and still be thrilled by it. Clor have been around the London scene for a number of years, beginning with a club night in Brixton set up by songwriters Barry and Luke and then establishing themselves as an engagingly noisy live...
Swedish Melodic Death Metal giants, Arch Enemy have hit the ground running once again with their new release, "Doomsday Machine". I myself am still enamored at how gruff, evil, and deceitful a voice can come out of vocalist Angela Gossow. When you hear that caustic voice blast from your speakers,... I must say, that not since hearing Shadows Fall almost 4 years ago, have I heard a band that pays such an homage to the classic american metal of the 80's and early part of the 90's. Well all that changes with "Ascendancy".

Trivium is yet another band that brings those feelings back, with this,...

Neon Blonde is the side project of Blood Brothers singer Johnny Whitley and drummer Mark Gajadhar. Neon Blonde keeps all of the elements that have made The Blood Brothers such a success, the frenzied music over the spastic vocal stylings, yet has added a fun dance element. Johnny Whitney is ****ing...
I have been hearing a lot lately about Daphne Loves Derby. Their online marketing has been impressive and I am seeing their name pop up all over the place. This sort of promotion can mean one of two things: either the record is good and deserves attention, or the record is bad and NEEDS the... Coheed and Cambria, what can I say? I have liked this band since "Second Stage Turbine Blade", and I'm not going to stop liking them now. With their major label debut (and their 3rd album), "Good Apollo..." takes a lot of the more poppy elements from their last release and really expands on them.... Although it would be easy to write off The Tossers as producers of mindless barroom soundtracks, that is certainly not the case. Tony Duggins writes very profound and thought-provoking lyrics analyzing life around him and life within him. The Valley of The Shadow of Death is an incredibly...
Manchester's Amplifier return with a new 6 track EP for their new label SPV, the band were one of the first victims of Music For Nations ill fated takeover by BMG which lead to most of the roster being ceremoniously dumped. The new ep is not that far removed from the debut self titled album with... This is tough for me to say. The Tea Party, a Canadian Rock trio that took Led Zeppelin’s East-meets-West fusion to its apex on 1999’s Triptych with songs like "Samsara and "The Halcyon Days", has bottomed-out. There, I said it. What makes this even more painful is that the drop-off is utterly... Tarja of Nightwish and Sharon of Within Temptation have just found new competition in the form of Mexican vocalist Marcela Bovio who is remarkable on the debut release by Stream of Passion. The music is a symphony to the ear with a hint of Eastern tones adding to the overall effect. The mix of Goth...
