So normally when I get called from telemarketers I say something real shitty and just hang up. It really burns my ass when they have one of those recording things that you can't tell to fuck off. Anyway, so my phone rings a bit ago and it's one of those recordings with this really obnoxious guy's voice yelling at me about satellite.

For some reason, I listen for more than a split second and actually think to myself 'hey...this sounds like a really good deal, actually!' So I hang onto the line to speak to a live operator....

"Please hold while we transfer you to a live operator."

[Kenny G starts playing]

*holding*

*holding*

*holding*

Alright, I dont want satellite TV bad enough to sit through that much Kenny G...so I hang up. As soon as I hang up, I think "AJ! That was a good deal!! What are you thinking?! What if they don't call back????"

Then I remembered they are telemarketers...and ALWAYS call back.

I have no idea why I told this story.

I don't see how that Telemarketing strategy even works. The percentage is really low but they must get more volume that way and are able to reach that 1% sales bracket I guess.

I actually used to be a telemarketer way back in the day. It sucks that they rely on senile old people with bad hearing to buy all their shit. That's really who they are going for...people that don't know any better and are easily confused....

Sometimes I like to see how long it takes for the telemarketer hang up on me, instead of me just hanging up on them. I find that when you make statements like "Hold on a sec, I am just thawing a human head for supper tonight" or "Ya know, playdo isn't just fun to play with...it's mighty tasty too" telemarketers tend to vacate the line rather hastily.
